Memorial website in the memory of your loved one

"I want for nothing.  I fear nothing.  I am free."

This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Alex Fisher who was born in Jacksonville, Florida on November 09, 1987 and passed away on June 08, 2006 at the age of 18. We will remember him forever.

Alex died alone at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006 in a single car accident.  He was traveling west on Beach Blvd. in Jacksonvllle, FL when he swerved to miss a slower moving automobile, lost control of his truck and overturned after hitting a guard rail.  Alex was killed instantly upon impact.

We can barely believe that such a horrible thing has happened to our Alex.  This has devastated his family and friends.  Alex was loved by so many of us.  Our world will never be the same without him in it.

On Wednesday, July 19, 2006  Alex was relocated to his final resting place at the Warren Smith Cemetery, corner of Beach Blvd. and Penman Road, Jacksonville Beach, Florida.  If you would like additional information as to where he is located in the cemetery, please phone his mother, Peggy at 904-374-5002.  This cemetery had no availability when we were making the initial burial arrangements.  Fortunately, additional plots became available.  We decided to move Alex as he loved the beach and this is where he belongs.

Alex - This is for you, my precious son:

FLY
(Celine Dion)

Fly, fly little wing, fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven's love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again

Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this memory bittersweet
Until we meet

Fly, fly do not fear
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don't wait for me
Above the universe you'll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won't forget

Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light

I will see you again soon.  I love you, Alex,
Mom

Alex had a  face tatoo on the inside of his right knee.  Soon after Alex's death 15-20 of Alex's friends got the same tatoo in his memory.  Brandon's brother (tattoo artist) gave me (Alex's Mom) a smiley face tattoo for Mother's Day 2007.  My first Mother's Day without Alex.

See photos of Jarrod and Brandon's tattoo in the photo album.

Because of Alex:

I believe in angels.  Not the kind with wings and not the kind with halos, but the kind that bring you home when home becomes a strange place and you feel you can't press on; you pick up and push harder and those angels are just the wings on your very own back, simply the people you call friends and family.

Thank you for being an angel in this harsh world.

Brandon

My name is Jonathan Collett and I was lucky enough to have found a friend in Alex Fisher.  We met the month of October 2004.  I'll never forget his black curly hair and his rugged jeans and busted up converse and red shirt.  Me and Alex got really close.  Always talking about life and always going out and having a blast.  But now that he's gone I'm lost and confused.  But I know he's looking down on me with a smile on his face.  Alex wasn't a friend.  He was more like a brother to me.  I loved him and I always will.  One day I'll see him again.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Jonathan Eugene Collett and Gloria Collett

His legacy
What Alex loved best!

Alex was the most loyal friend a person could have.  He would never betray a friend no matter what it cost him.   Alex was always there if a friend needed him.  He genuinely cared about them and wanted to do whatever possible to help a friend in need.  He was always so concerned if when one of his friends was having a difficult time.  Alex's favorite thing to do was to spend time hangin' out with his friends.

Alex's friends continue to express their feelings of sorrow and loss in many different ways.  Six of his friends had a  face tattooed on the inside of their right knees in memory of him.  Alex had a   tattoo in the spring of 2006 tattooed on the inside of his right knee.  Jared visits Alex's memorial cross on Beach Blvd. often and leaves a momento each time he visits.

Christina was Alex's first love and he was the happiest when he was with her, which was almost all of the time.  They had so much fun together.  There was always so much laughter when they were around.   Alex was trying to teach Christina to drive.  He would insist that she run around the truck three times when she would get nervous during her driving lessons! Unfortunately, there was not quite enough time for him to complete his mission to teach her to drive.

Alex was always ready for adventure and couldn't stand being bored.  He was never afraid to try anything new.  Alex was a certified scuba diver.  He also enjoyed surfing, snowboarding, water skiing, snow skiing, four wheeling and, in his earlier years, football,  skateboarding and skating in Hilliard with Thomas.
